Oh, How Pinteresting #4 ~ The Wanderlust Edition

I love to travel. It's one of those things that I desperately wish I could do more of, but I just don't have the money, plus I really don't have anyone to travel with and I'm not the type of girl who could venture out on her own for some epic solo adventure.

My wanderlust comes and goes. Sometimes I think I resign myself to the fact that it's going to be a long time before I get to take another trip, and then other times I want to just take off and go so badly I feel like I'm going to burst. Lately it's been the latter. My wanderlust is so bad right now, I can practically taste it. So...since I can't really do anything about it, I look at pictures, plot and plan, and daydream. *sigh*

This is Oh, How Pinteresting, the Wanderlust Edition:

Oh, How Pinteresting ~ #3

Happy Wednesday, everyone! I hope you're all having a great week. It's been a busy one here so far - I kind of feel like a chicken with its head cut off. I have this massive to-do list and only half the items ever seem to get crossed off. Something to be happy about though: just two more days and then I get a 4-day weekend! Woohoo! I still have to work those four days, but at least I'll be baby free, which is one less distraction/reason to procrastinate. Note: for those of you who don't know, I watch my 2-year-old nephew 4-5 days a week. As a writer, I work from home, so it's hard trying to work and be with him too, but thankfully my mum and I live together so she takes over baby duty when I need to work.

Now, on to some pretty pictures! Oh, How Pinteresting! is hosted by Michelle over at The Vintage Apple. Here are some of my findings this week:

I mentioned in yesterday's post that I'm switching from coffee to green tea during the week for weight loss purposes. I knew green tea had a lot of health benefits, but I thought this was really interesting. Lots of reasons to drink it...now if I could actually learn to enjoy it...

This took my breath away. I would love to have a beach party here, or maybe even a wedding. It also looks like a great spot to curl up with a book...I feel all zen just looking at this. ;-)

This is so pretty, and it looks simple enough. I've never been able to master eyeliner on the upper lids, but I'm going to give it another shot. I need some new eye makeup, and I'd love to find a shimmery silver like this.

What can I really say about this other than it makes me want to get on a plane right this second and visit Paris? I went when I was 17, but I'd give anything to go back now as an adult and see it with fresh eyes.

These are just too cute, and they look so simple to make! I made frog cupcakes for Mother's Day from a picture I found on Pinterest (I'll be posting my results tomorrow or on the weekend), and now I want to try these. I just need to get mini cupcake pans first.

The Giant's Causeway, Ireland. Ireland is the #1 destination on my travel wishlist, and I've always wanted to see the Giant's Causeway.

And finally, today's eye candy. I've posted pictures of Matt Davis from The Vampire Diaries the last two weeks, and even though I'm still obsessed with him, I thought I should branch out, so I'm posting a picture of my next go-to hottie, Ryan Gosling.

Oh, How Pinteresting ~ #2

Oh, How Pinteresting! is hosted by Michelle over at The Vintage Apple. Here are some of the things that tickled my fancy this week:

One thing you need to know about me: I love U2. Tomorrow is Bono's birthday, and because his music has changed me, I thought this was fitting.

I've always wanted a secret passageway. Now, a secret passageway with all these books? Huge win.

True story...for this girl, anyway.

I love this. It's so airy and bright, and I can see curling up there and reading, working, napping, or just daydreaming.

So true. This makes me laugh every time I see it.

I need to try this! It's so beautiful and simple, and I have a few vases and glass jars that would be perfect for this. Now I just need to find the Pledge stuff (I've never seen that particular kind) and the glitter. When I do finally get around to trying it, I'll post my results here.

I love owls, and this is just too cute. Best part is, it looks like it would be pretty simple to make.

I'm in love with this. I can picture it in a bedroom that multiple children share, or for a teenager who has lots of sleepovers (I know I would have loved this as a teen). I can also picture it in a cottage, or in a party house where you have a lot of wild parties and don't want people to drink and drive - massive sleepover!

Last week, my last picture was of Matt Davis. I decided that every week I'd end my Oh, How Pintersting! post with a bit of eye candy. I've been on a Matt Davis kick lately, so you're getting him two weeks in a row. ;-) He's just so yummy! I'm really nervous about the season finale of Vampire Dairies - they better not kill him off!

What were some of your fun finds this week?

Daydreaming about...spring and summer dresses

I wore a lot of dresses when I was a little girl. I was very much a girly-girl and loved to dress the part. As I got older, I got away from dresses, and as I gained weight, dresses just looked wrong on me. In the last 15 years, I've owned two dresses - my grade eight graduation dress, and my prom dress - and rented a custom fit dress for my brother's wedding.

I've always daydreamed about pretty spring and summer dresses. The reason I daydream about them instead of owning them is because they make my already big tummy look even bigger (I look pregnant, seriously), and my J.Lo booty look twice its size. *sigh* My weight has always been an issue and a struggle. For the last two years especially I've yo-yo'd like crazy, losing and gaining, losing and gaining. I'm back at it again, eating healthy and working out every day, and I can already see changes in my body, but I have a long way to go. My goal is to buy a dress this summer and look and feel good in it...but that probably won't be for another couple months.

One of my closest childhood friends is getting married in a little less than six weeks. Her mother's throwing her a bridal shower in three weeks, and it got me thinking about what to wear. I don't think it's going to be a fancy party, so I'm not really concerned with dressing up, but while I was looking for bridal shower gift ideas on Pinterst, I came across several dresses I wish I could wear. I'm going to buying a new outfit for the wedding itself - maybe a dress? More likely a skirt and nice top, but we'll see.

In my perfect little daydream world where I'm much smaller and can afford any dress I'd like, these would be some of my choices:

I'm normally not much for lace, but I fell in love with this dress the moment I saw it. It's classic, elegant, I love the cap sleeves and the little belt, and the colour.

Simple but beautiful, and I particularly love the skirt. I can imagine twirling around the way I did when I was a little girl!

I love this one for the same reasons I love the first one. It's classic and elegant, with kind of a vintage feel to it.

Cute, flirty, fun. Again, love the fuller skirt.

I even love the name of this dress: mint milkshake. How cute is that? I just think it's so girly and sweet with the detailing and flower at the waist, and the gorgeous eyelet design along the skirt.

What do you think of these dresses? Do you wear dresses, or are you like me where you wish you could wear dresses? Or maybe you're the type of girl who wouldn't be caught dead in a dress? I want to know!

Oh, How Pinteresting ~ #1

I discovered The Vintage Apple several weeks ago, and this blog was one of the ones that convinced me I needed to branch out from book blogging and create a blog for anything and everything. When I discovered her feature Oh, How Pinteresting, I knew I had to participate, because I'm a total Pinterest whore. I had planned to do it on Ramblings of a Daydreamer, and do book and writing-related pins, but didn't have time with the A to Z Challenge last month. I might start next week, though, when I have more time for pinning. For now, here are some of the things that have grabbed my attention lately:
